Scilla
Scilla is located on the homonymous rock, which rises 22 km north of Reggio Calabria: its promontory, stretching out over the Strait of Messina, which in ancient times was in fact called the Strait of Scilla. According to Greek mythology, Scylla was a marine nymph who, out of jealousy, was transformed by Circe into a monster while bathing in a cove near Zancle (today's Messina). The story is told in the Odyssey and in Ovid's Metamorphoses.
The CNN travel included Scilla into the “20 of the most beautiful villages in Italy”.
